See what's quietly hurting your Shopify app's rating

We're building a system that scans reviews and discussions about your Shopify app and every competitor in your category — across the App Store, the Community forum, and Reddit — extracts the pain points that keep repeating, and surfaces AI-generated summaries, so you catch rating-killing problems and competitive gaps early instead of reading through everything yourself.

What we're building

Two features anchor everything else on this roadmap. Neither is live yet — here's the vision.

Compare your app against competitors

Put your Shopify app side-by-side with any competitor in your category — same complaint categories, same rating breakdown — so a wave of low ratings stops being noise and starts being a specific, fixable gap.

  • Complaint categories matched across both apps, not just raw review counts
  • Rating distribution and recent-vs-older complaint trend, compared directly
  • Support-response gaps — who's replying to unhappy users and who isn't

Turn review signals into developer tickets

Recurring complaints shouldn't just sit in a pile of quotes. We're building a way to roll every review that mentions the same problem into one ticket — title, summary, how many reviews back it up — ready to hand to a developer.

  • One ticket per recurring pain point, not one per review
  • Illustrative destinations we're exploring: Jira, Linear, GitHub Issues — not built or integrated yet
  • Built for maintainers who want structured input into their own tracker, not another dashboard to babysit
Review → ticket — illustrative

Fix points sync after checkout

Priority: High · 4 similar reports

From hundreds of reviews to one ticket

This is the gap the review-to-ticket feature above is meant to close.

Today, without this

  • Read through hundreds of 1- to 4-star reviews yourself, one at a time
  • Check the App Store, the Community forum, and Reddit separately — no single view
  • Manually judge which complaints repeat vs. which are one-offs
  • Copy-paste the worst ones into a doc and hope a developer reads it

Where we're headed

  • Every source — App Store, Community forum, Reddit, and more — pulled into one place
  • AI groups repeating complaints into themes: bug, missing feature, support, pricing, UI/UX
  • Each theme becomes a ticket ready to route to your board once board integrations ship
  • You spend time deciding what to fix, not hunting across three different sites for what's broken

What an insight looks like

Illustrative examples — not live data

Mocked-up walkthroughs of how a recurring complaint could turn into a ticket. No real app or reviews are behind any of these examples.

Loyalty & Rewards app

"17 of the last 40 low-rating reviews mention that point balances go out of sync after a theme update, and that support takes over three days to respond."

Mock ticket

Fix: points balance drifts after theme update

Recurring complaint from 17 reviews in the last 90 days. Suggested owner: loyalty engine team.

Shipping & Fulfillment app

"Orders stuck in ‘processing’ for 2+ days during sale weekends — support says it’s a known issue but no fix yet."

Mock ticket

Fix: order status stalls during high-traffic sales

Recurring complaint from 11 reviews in the last 60 days. Suggested owner: fulfillment integrations team.

Email Marketing app

"Automation flows silently stop sending after a Shopify plan change — no error, no notification, just missing emails."

Mock ticket

Fix: automation flows silently drop after plan change

Recurring complaint from 9 reviews in the last 90 days. Suggested owner: automation engine team.

From thousands of reviews to a handful of decisions

The Shopify App Store has no shortage of reviews — yours and your competitors' — but reading through them manually is slow and expensive. It's hard to tell which complaints are costing you rating points right now, which features users say competing apps are missing, or where a whole category is quietly under-delivering. Shopify App Insights automates that entire loop for your app and every competitor in your category: collect data, filter for low ratings, extract the reviews that matter, and generate insights you can act on before your rating slips.

Collect

01

Scan Shopify App Store reviews, the Shopify Community forum, and Reddit discussions for your app and every competitor.

Filter

02

Isolate the low-rating signal that everyday users usually skim past.

Extract

03

Pull the recurring complaints out of thousands of raw review texts.

Summarize

04

Turn the noise into AI-generated, structured insights you can act on before your rating slips.

App owners & maintainers

Watch what users say about your own Shopify app — and how you stack up against every competitor in your category — before a wave of low ratings hurts your ranking and revenue.

Competitor research teams

Map exactly where rival apps in a category consistently fall short, feature by feature.

Founders & product teams

Evidence-based SaaS ideas backed by thousands of real, recurring user complaints.

Also underway

The dashboard is in private testing while we validate it with early users — these two pieces already exist there, supporting Compare and ticket conversion above.

Questions

Is this only for Shopify apps?

Yes — the whole pipeline is built around the Shopify App Store: its review data, the Shopify Community forum, and Reddit discussions about Shopify apps. We're not tracking other app marketplaces.

How often is the data refreshed?

Insights refresh automatically whenever they go stale — roughly once a day per app — as we scan for new reviews. We don't have a stronger public SLA than that yet; we're pre-revenue and still tuning the pipeline.

Do you need access to my app account or API keys?

No. We only read public App Store reviews and forum posts — there is no OAuth flow, no API key, and no permission grant required from you or your store.

When do I get full access after signing up?

There's no self-serve signup yet. We're rolling out early access manually during this private preview, so we'll reach out directly once a spot opens up.

What would you pay for this?

Directional — not final

We haven't set prices. We'd rather find out what's fair before locking anything in — two directional ideas below, and a price range you can pick in the signup form — one click, optional, and it helps us land on a fair number instead of guessing.

Solo builder

One app, tracked properly

For a single app owner who wants a clear, ongoing read on their own app instead of digging through reviews manually.

  • Full review coverage for your app and every competitor in your category
  • Compare view — see exactly which complaint categories and ratings you fall short on, feature by feature
  • Recurring complaints grouped into themes (bug, missing feature, support, pricing, UI/UX), same as the dashboard
  • Auto-generated tickets for the complaints worth fixing, once review-to-ticket ships
  • Opportunity scoring so you know which gaps are worth fixing first
  • A source of ideas for your next app — use Compare and opportunity scoring to see which problem areas keep coming up across categories

Team / Agency

Every app you manage, in one place

For teams researching multiple apps or running several client portfolios who need one shared view instead of juggling spreadsheets per client.

  • Everything in Solo builder, applied across every app your team tracks
  • Side-by-side comparisons across your whole portfolio, not just one app at a time
  • One shared source of truth so the whole team works from the same insights
  • Ticket-board integrations once they ship — insights land straight in your client trackers
  • Priority access as new features roll out, ahead of the general waitlist

A note from the founder

I'm building this alone right now, digging through the Shopify App Store, the Community forum, and Reddit for ideas and reviews, one category at a time — and noticing how much of the same feedback kept repeating across competing apps. Shopify App Insights is my attempt to automate that reading, not to replace judgment. It's pre-revenue and in private preview — I don't have paying customers or case studies to show you yet. If the problem sounds familiar, I'd rather hear that directly from you than guess at it.
